Jun 2022 - Present

Machine Learning Engineer

Quebec, Qc, Ca

In this role, I designed and implement new NLP systems for a product that automatically creates a working chatbot given a list of facts. This product is called Botpress OpenBook, of which I am listed as a co-inventor on any relevant documents. According to the publicly available OpenBook Whitepaper(see Media) the software exceeds many current solutions with regard to the accuracy, time to build, and more. The product as of June 2022 just entered open beta, so feel free to check out what I and a few other engineers made. A large part of my job was acquiring unique datasets to solve unique problems in the NLP space. I often designed and implemented data collection methods as well as methods to clean and prepare the data to then be used in training NLP models.Botpress being a startup I often tackled other smaller tasks to help with the running of operations, such as designing and ordering a GPU server that was used for training and testing new systems that were created for OpenBook.

Machine Learning Research Assistant

Cincinnati, Ohio, Us

Conducted research in a variety of machine learning areas, manage and work with undergraduate students, and organized and presented my findings to my research advisor.Areas of research included creating a variety of models to diagnose Diabetic Retinopathy and exploring how different methods of manipulating the data can potentially lead to different levels of performance in the predictive ability of the model. In addition, I conducted research in the area of AI Video Summarization, meaning creating and testing different AI systems that are able to detect different segments in a video, give them importance scores, and generate a shorter summary from the most important areas of the video.

Software Engineer Co-Op

Plano, Tx, Us

I worked in Chief Technology Office (CTO) at Siemens. In this role, I was tasked with researching and developing prototypes with new upcoming technologies. I was responsible for prototyping applications with Conditional Generative Adversarial Networks(GANs) in the area of three-dimensional object generation to discover potential ways Siemens can use this new technology to offer better solutions to its customers.I conducted research and then developed proto-type applications with blockchain that show potential business applications. Through this role I was also exposed to other exciting technologies such as IOT, AR/VR, and more through weekly meetings and discussions with coworkers.

Aug 2018 - Jan 2020

Engineering It Co-Op

St. Louis, Mo, Us

In this role, I managed and troubleshooted computers with complex software installations. I used scripting as well as my in depth knowledge of how an operating system works to complete tasks. I also designed and developed an application tool to aid myself and future co-ops in daily tasks. The application was developed using C++, the Qt Framework, Sqlite, and Windows API. The application is still used by co-ops after I left my position at Emerson and has left a lasting impact for that co-op position that I left.

Dec 2017 - May 2018

It Specialist Co-Op

Cincinnati, Ohio, Us

During my time working as the IT Specialist at the University of Cincinnati Medical School, I was tasked with several larger projects such as AD migration, computer image development, medical test data migration, as well general maintenance and overseeing of over 250 computers.Using Microsoft's SCCM and Oracles Virtual Box, I developed a total of 4 different images that were deployed throughout the medical college using SCCM. All of which contained highly customized settings and software, all of which also accomplished the task of AD migration. Once deployed, I was then able to mange the computers as well as push out software through the SCCM manager client. For the medical test data transfer, the goal was to transfer test question data from the testing system QuestionMark to the testing system ExamSoft. In order to speed up this process, I wrote an application to aid the process in the C++ programming language. The application would automatically format the test questions in a way the next system could understand as well as set flags on questions that needed special manual formatting.

Jun 2017 - Dec 2017

Software Developer Co-Op

Precision Strip, Inc.

During this internship I used the database language Open Edge Progress. While not as popular as some databases like SQl and Mysql, the concepts I have found to largely be the same. Using this platform, I developed programs that allowed the automation of reports according to the needs of customers by writing database queries and manipulating the data. Additionally, I developed tools to improve efficiency, such writing a tool that automatically generated a map of the location of the inventory of the coils. Another tool example is that I developed a tool to aid in inventory reports. Prior, inventory reports were done with paper and pencil, as the scanner only supported the use of one scanner at a time. I added the capability for multiple users to use scanners and to concatenate the data together, and then compared the data to collected to the data in the database, greatly improving the accuracy and time take to do the inventory reports.
