Blake A. McKibbin is the Nuclear and Criticality Safety Functional Manager for Amentum Technical Consulting with 16 years of experience supporting projects and programs for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). He is responsible for leading a multi-disciplined engineering group providing expertise in the DOE Complex for development of safety basis documentation and analytical support (accident/ hazard analysis and criticality). He continues to support the DOE Complex in the areas of Safety Basis Management, Hazard Analysis, and USQ Determinations. McKibbin specializes in creative and innovative nuclear safety solutions for the high-risk, technically complex projects for energy contractors. With expertise that ranges from leading development of software tools assisting hazard analysts to delivering an innovative safety basis for a demonstration activity showcasing ion exchange technology and storage, he embraces the challenge of addressing the unique needs facing most energy contractors today.In his previous role with Amentum, he served as the Deputy Account Manager for the Savannah River Remediation (SRR) Nuclear Safety Contract. McKibbin was responsible for assisting the Account Manager in monitoring and managing the technical, schedule, and financial performance of the nuclear safety scope for SRR. Additional responsibilities included serving as the Safety Basis Regulatory Authority (SBRA) engaged in managing nuclear safety analysis, regulatory compliance, USQ program, and implementation scope for Waste Disposition facilities (Defense Waste Processing Facility and Saltstone Production Facility) and the Concentration, Storage, and Transfer Facilities.McKibbin holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Austin College. When not wrenching on European vehicles, he is an official Dance Dad for his little princess, coach to his son, and loving husband to his wife of 12 years.
