About Blake Williams
Software Developer with a broad range of interests and over 20 years professional experience. Specialties: Go, Python, TypeScript, React, Node.js, SQL, PHP, C, AWS.I am most readily proficient in Go, Python and TypeScript at the moment. In addition, I have programmed extensively in C, Bash, C#, Java, Ruby, PHP and Lua over the course of my career, among others. I can be comfortable and effective in any language if given some time to acclimatise.I enjoy backend software development most of all, but am also very comfortable with modern web frontends (React and friends) and DevOps work as well.I have comprehensive experience with Protocol Buffers and GRPC, GraphQL and OpenAPI. I've worked with MessagePack a lot and dabbled in some CBOR as well.In addition to my language experience, I also have experience with a very wide variety of platforms and tools. I have built applications and systems using Android, Emscripten, Ansible, .NET, UWP, Unity, Node.js, React... so many languages to play with, so little time! I have integrated with a number of AV systems including Medialon and Watchout, as well as OBIX-based building management systems.My most recent projects include:- Full-stack development and API design work on Azure-based Python Backends/Middleware with a React frontend on a day-of-operations platform for a government agency via KPMG Australia.- Tessitura integration work using React and Node.js for a digital ticketing experience as part of the RISING arts festival.- A large-scale GRPC-based platform for centralising a suite of APIs for mobile experiences for the creative sector, including Python backends and a TypeScript/React-based frontend- System design and development for a backend to manage a Bluetooth-based indoor positioning system, coordinating with mobile apps, Unity screens, Building Management Systems, Watchout displays and Show Controllers for the Sir John Monash Centre in Villers-Brettoneux in France.- A JavaScript-based mobile web video playback solution
