CurrentIn this role I assists in providing support to local law enforcement officials at accident sites and stranded motorists as required. Assists with traffic control; places and gathers cones, warning signs and barricades; flags traffic. Determine placement of traffic control devices and installs/moves devices. Identify, repairs, and installs signs, delineators, mailbox supports and posts; and uses/moves equipment/tools, materials and products. Maintain highways and state right-of-way; performs roadway repairs; erects and repairs guard rails, highway markers and signs; hauls materials and equipment to job sites. Move/pick up litter and roadway debris. Operate equipment such as a front-end loader, tractor-trailer haul truck, 6/10/12 yard dump trucks, front-end loaders, pneumatic roller, steel drum roller, rotary broom, spreader box, backhoe, street sweeper, skid steer, forklift, etc. Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), routine servicing and minor repairs on equipment and completes various required reports including timekeeping, equipment forms, inventory, accident forms, and PMI. Maintain construction project records and bridge inspection records; processes related paperwork; review files for compliance with the bridge inspection Manual of Procedures. Inspect maintenance contract construction methods and workmanship to ensure contractors build and maintain roadways, bridges, traffic signals and related highway structures in accordance with plans and specifications. Inspect traffic control devices and their placement at construction project sites for compliance with specifications for devices, safety laws, rules, regulations and the Texas MUTCD.
