We aim to find cures and treatments for rare genetic diseases, which together affect the lives of tens of millions of people around the world. By automating many cellular experiments and the analysis of the resulting data, we will reduce the cost and time required to a fraction of what's typically seen in drug discovery.

Earned a PhD and published a co-first-author Nature paper applying computational, molecular, systems biology approaches with the Marcotte Lab in the Center for Systems and Synthetic Biology. Our dedication to technology, convenience, quality and speed have made us the leading internet-based source for the custom signs businesses and individuals use most, ranging from yard signs and banners to magnetics to bumper stickers and license plates. We support this through online marketing in a variety of channels, leading-edge website usability, industry-leading software-assisted printing and fulfillment infrastructure, and a talented and innovative workforce.  Bootstrapped with no capital, BuildASign.com has been necessarily profitable from day one. We grew from no employees and $200k in revenue in 2005 to over 350 employees and over $85 million in 2015, placed by the Austin Business Journal among the top fastest-growing Austin companies and best companies to work for year after year.My role transitioned from personally leading all technology and software development in the beginning stages in 2004-2006, to leading the online marketing efforts as we began scaling up, to building out our technology and marketing team members and managers, to company oversight, strategy and growth. I transitioned away from my guidance role in 2015 as we brought on our first investors.

CTAN mission: provide quality early-stage investment opportunities for accredited angel investors and to provide funding, advice, and networking for bold, early stage entrepreneurs with game-changing ideas. Serving on the board was a wonderful opportunity to help push CTAN forward towards this mission. Facing an increasing set of requirements for finishing my PhD and increasing commitments to Recursion Pharmaceuticals, which I co-founded in late 2013, I unfortunately had to step away from my board position, but remain an active member in CTAN.

We used consulting projects building data-driven and ecommerce websites to learn the tools of the trade and fund some experiments of our own. Most of these didn't pan out, but one, taking the sign design and purchase process and making it work the way it should on the internet, turned out to be a winner.

Bern, Switzerland-based research center focused mainly on applying computer planning, navigation, and vision to biomechanical surgery problems.I led development of an extension of the existing realtime c++ surgical navigation software framework to a new application: brachytherapy--treating brain tumors by precise injection of radioactive beads into the target tumor, inside the brain.
