[I wrote my description back in early 2018 and it is now outdated. Stay tuned for an updated about section, currently in process…]Blake is a web developer and designer with years of experience working on projects from conception through design & development, and into production. He enjoys collaborating across the full stack throughout the creative process, specializing in conceptual ideation and front-end, in-browser, design & development. Blake practices whole-system thinking and an integrative design process (read: agile).Following a stint in graduate school, Blake began working for a Seattle-based digital marketing agency in 2013. There he led numerous responsive design and development projects, one of which was awarded a Silver ADDY at the regional level. For the past 5+ years, Blake’s professional development experience rests on a LEMP + Varnish + MaxCDN stack, with extensive expertise writing HTML5, CSS3 (SASS), PHP, jQuery, and JavaScript ES5 / ES6+ (his personal favorite, used in functional, object-oriented, and blended styles).Over the course of 2017, Blake developed a mobile-first platform supporting devices from 375px up to 2560px, across the usual browser suspects. Branded as the “E7 Series 3” platform, the system leverages contributions from the open-source community (i.e. Bootstrap 4, npm libraries, etc.) and offers advanced automated features such as color-adaptive interfaces, high-resolution lazy & responsive imagery, typographic setting automation, critical CSS generation, and a drag-and-drop page builder, all while keeping a close eye on performance. The first progressive web application built on an early version of the platform for a client was recently awarded a pair of W3 Awards, one gold and one silver.Blake is currently building a React + Apollo version of the E7 Series 3 platform. Moving forward, he is excited to contribute his existing knowledge to organizations, while deepening his skill set, specifically by focusing on Node, React + Apollo, and universal application architectures.
