We are diving into gitgub with beanstalk, and Chef Server. I am writing all deployment cookbooks and systems scripts. I've also written management scripts to build tomcat and drupal applications from the beanstalk repository and to either update or deploy new servers via chef. In addition I've set up logstash, redis, elasticsearch and kibana to replace splunk, and collectd for gathering system metrics. Systems Engineer working with project managers and developers to implement changes specifically to java services, used primarily for back-end data support. Duties include managing system availability by insuring systems maintain proper capacity specifications. Also responsible for making sure company requirements for monitoring, procedural documents, system overviews and deployment standards meet expected guidelines. Currently working on a project to discover the interfaces between all NIS applications, which will then be used to build an information portal used by engineering as well as Tier 1 and Tier 2 problem resolution teams.

Project Management, Best Practices, Mentoring and Implementation Planning.

Responsible for day-to-day operations and controls of the Engineering group, which consists of Network Engineering, Development, Systems, Oracle DBA’s, and the IT departments, as well as staffing within these departments. Primary duties required the creation of a Project Management process to ensure quality measures and communications during the project from proposal acceptance to product delivery. I am also responsible for the Infrastructure Change Management Process specifically targeting reduction of outages due to errors during the maintenance window. These changes naturally enhanced the knowledge base being created for engineering. Additionally I am responsible for strategic or tactical architecture improvements in an effort to keep the operations environment updated as much as budgets would allow and to anticipate capacity requirements such as Network and Server bandwidth, Filer Storage, Backup windows etc.

Worked as a Pre- Sales engineer supporting Classified Boeing Defense and Space projects as well as all governement contracts in the NorthWestern US. Duties included recommending hardware required to accomplish specific tasks ranging from DeskTop to clustered Oracle servers or data processing engines for heavy processing of Defense Data or NOAA applications.

Worked as a Systems Administrator and C- Programmer on Sun/Unix platforms. I supported a wide range of applications from Telco Wiring databases to Top Secret Defense and Space projects. Sub tasks included X-Windows, Oracle, programming. Programmed network gateways between OSI and TCP/IP protocols, SNMP device management agents used for network traffic statistics.

Hired as COBOL programmer for the Payroll system and then in 1987 moved over to manufacturing as a C-Programmer to help create a paperless shop order system supporting the Advanced Tactical Fighter (YF22). Duties included writing C programs for backend access to Informix C-ISAM databases as well as programs for network communications and serial communications to robotic devices and CNC machines.
