As an instructor for Counseling Psychology 125: The Wisconsin Experience Seminar, I am committed to supporting new students in their transition to campus life. This course is designed to help students navigate campus services and resources while building a strong community within the class. With sections of 20 students or fewer, the seminar provides a personalized and engaging learning environment.In my role, I am responsible for preparing and reviewing lesson plans, ensuring each class session is informative and interactive. I facilitate weekly classes, fostering an inclusive atmosphere where students feel comfortable participating and sharing their experiences. I also grade and provide feedback on student work in a timely manner, helping students understand their progress and areas for improvement.Mentoring and supporting an Undergraduate Teaching Fellow is another key aspect of my role. I work closely with the Teaching Fellow, guiding their development and ensuring they are well-equipped to support our students. My commitment to student success extends beyond the classroom, as I actively support first-year students through in-person and electronic communication, addressing their concerns and providing guidance as needed.Additionally, I attend regular meetings with the Undergraduate Teaching Fellow and other instructors to discuss course content, share best practices, and continuously improve the seminar experience. My goal is to create a welcoming and supportive environment that helps new students thrive both academically and personally during their first year at UW-Madison.
