Part of a development team assigned to the U.S. Army's 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, advised brigade leadership on economic development initiatives inside the brigade area of operations.-Initiated and managed a project to revitalize an industrial park in a rural area north of Baghdad. Organized the businesses into a factory association, directed lobbying efforts with the government of Iraq, facilitated training for factory owners, and provided consulting to factory management.-Convinced the Ministry of Electricity to provide a scheduled and reliable block of electrical power to factories. Recruited and trained design and sustaining engineers, technical writers, quality engineers, and technical managers.-Developed and qualified Chinese suppliers to provide components and finished goods to assembly lines worldwide. Spearheaded development of a global vendor/part approval process which unified procedures across multiple business units and geographic locations.-Developed ISO 9001:2000-compliant processes to guide operations in China.-Audited and qualified vendors in China, Malaysia, and Singapore.

-Project manager for plasma cutter new product development, I worked with customers and marketing to convert customer requirements to engineering specifications, planned the project, and led the development team.-Designed and installed a prototype machining cell to speed product development. Supervised technicians and machinists assigned to the engineering laboratories.

-Managed all aspects of Creare's laboratories and fabrication facilities including setting budgets and supervising all technicians and machinists.-Project manager for R&D programs, including the successful development of a miniature turbomolecular pump for use in portable gas analyzers.-Provided test engineering support to thermodynamic, control systems, high-vacuum, and biomedical projects. As part of a study involving decompression sickness in astronauts, I attended the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society Hyperbaric Physician Course, and installed and operated a 6-atmosphere research hyperbaric chamber.

Developed data acquisition systems, test methods, and test procedures to support automotive airbag inflator testing. Specified, installed, and configured data acquisition systems for high volume production and R&D test laboratories. Designed and constructed innovative test laboratories capable of performing multiple tests simultaneously.

Research engineer responsible for conducting studies and experiments on alternative-fueled vehicles, hydrogen storage, and space-based cooling systems.

-Electromechanical equipment technician responsible for installation, calibration, and repair of equipment supporting the U.S. Atomic Energy Detection System.-Instructor and Technical Writer. Part of a team that developed the 9-month course for systems repair technicians.
