I led product management for Breadcrumb Pro, Groupon's iPad- and cloud-based point of sale system for restaurants & bars. Breadcrumb powers the best venues in the country—over a dozen Michelin stars—including Alinea, Lucky Strike, AQ Restaurant, Atera, and many others.

Kima Labs created pioneering mobile ecommerce apps: first with Barcode Hero (a beautiful social shopping application for iOS) and then with TapBuy (embeddable quick checkout for mobile ecommerce, that increases conversion up to 15x).Kima has raised seed funding from some of the valley's best, including Naval Ravikant, Ron Conway's SV Angel, and former senior execs from Amazon, Google, Facebook, Zynga, and Wal-Mart.Kima was acquired by Groupon in February, 2012.

Recruited by former Amazon SVP Jeff Holden to be first employee and Director of Product Development at Pelago, which went on to be funded by Kleiner and acquired by Groupon. Pelago created Whrrl, a primarily mobile service for local place discovery and social networking. I wore many hats, contributing significantly to product, engineering, and even data operations (I organized an outbound call center to build a richly detailed catalog of local businesses).

Owned social features, including Amazon Friends and shared purchases. Top-graded team, redefined product roadmap, and launched initiatives that generated $1M+ in annualized free cash flow.

Conducted Amazon’s first Google AdWords buy. I was directly responsible for the team and technology behind Amazon's large scale search advertising (launched even before Google had an ads API). P&L owner for over $300M in global revenue. Our tech led to multiple patents and consistently outperformed best available third-party offerings. Today, this technology drives over $1B in annual sales.

Developed retail personalization. Accomplishments include algorithmic optimizations that demonstrated sales and profitability lift in A/B tests, and a back-end re-architecture of personalization that trimmed seconds off homepage load times and allowed the site to meet its SLA targets for the first time.

Worked on various components of Inktomi's now-defunct Traffic Server product (an HTTP and streaming media proxycache). Conceived and implemented new algorithms for managing system behavior during overload. Designed and implemented new, kernel-space I/O architecture and novel memory allocator for streaming-media proxycache, which improved proxy performance by 50-2000% by reducing context switches required for network I/O.

Designed and implemented a distributed load-balancing and real-time monitoring system for a large, distributed streaming-media content delivery network. Software successfully supported largest-capacity webcast to date.

Started and operated a web hosting / consulting business while a high-school student, operated out of a "data center" in my parents' basement. GlobalWave was sold to Cinternet, Inc. when I dropped out of high school to attend Carnegie Mellon.
