We have developed an approach to childhood education which channels the natural process of trial and error as a positive force, rather than tying error and failure to self-esteem. This focus on 'Creative Confidence' is the founding principle of Tinker Camp, and as we have grown we have seen synergy in the Make/DIY community. We have started developing a plan to create a city-wide program to enable children to make choices that may lead them to a career in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math, and to track their progress. Working in concert with the Portland STEM ColLaboratory, Open Meadows and many other partners, we are seeking to extend our reach throughout the Portland area.

Manage the day to day operations of a medium sized network (300+ users) of Linux-based and Windows computers. Most of the systems are Ubuntu (Debian) thin clients using LTSP. The system also serves Windows clients using Samba. This makes a seamless network, allowing users to connect to resources regardless of the platform they use. Ubiquity in network resources for platform independent connectivity has been a key part of my philosophy since the mid 1990's.
