Helped start Horizon Arts, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit for youth and young adults in the marching arts. Oversaw its administration, including business registration, taxes/bookkeeping, and authoring contracts/policies.

Created full-stack React/NodeJS applications for the creation and adjudication of warranty claims and registrations. Simplified and enhanced the warranty claim process for both external consumers and internal warranty technicians. Other application included websites, mobile wallet cards, and marketing materials to help clients integrate warranty products into their business processes – increasing revenue for both the client and Automotive Business Solutions.Supported and improved DevOps processes for the team by decreasing CI/CD costs and increasing code maintainability. Managed a Kuberenetes cluster to ensure services were highly available, reliable, and visible.

Lead developer of the university’s payment processing system. Authored, proposed, and implemented the tokenization of the system which reduce the application’s PCI DSS scope from an SAQ D and saved on maintenance costs and 95% of audit labor costs. Maintained the system to keep it compliant with PCI DSS and to allow the university to continue to take card-not-present transactions. Migrated the application API from a Java-based monolithic application to a NodeJS-based cloud-native, distributed application.Developed new Kotlin (back end) and VueJS/TypeScript (front end) full-stack applications including their APIs and UIs consuming those APIs. Migrated legacy Java applications to a unified technology stack to reduce the application maintenance burden of the team. Implemented DevOps and CI/CD processes into those applications using tools such as AWS, GitHub Actions, and Terraform.Other work included leading the development of a new version of the university’s online campus map based on ArcGIS data to provided more up-to-date map and accessibility access data and leading the the development of Version 2.0 of university-branded and accessible web components to decrease their bundle size and load time and to simplify the creation of websites that match BYU brand guidelines.Menotred student employees and assisted them on their projects.

Developed the Drupal 8 version of the university’s public news website, improving the UX for readers and content creators. Migrated 11,000 nodes from the old Drupal 7 site to the new Drupal 8 site. Also, participated in the development and documentation of Version 1.0 of university-branded web components to simplify the creation of websites that match BYU brand guidelines.In addition to the BYU News site, those same skills we used to contribute to the redesign of the BYU homepage and BYU Photo websites, bringing the branding in line with new brand guidelines and improving the UX for website visitors.
