Acted as both Systems Architect and Systems Administrator. I joined Netagi in its early days, and thanks to the vision of its principal, we set ambitious goals that we mostly succeeded to achieve. I was given opportunities in so many areas and, as with the nature of small businesses, we often struggled through the tough times so I learnt a great deal about business management. Due to the nature of the business, my core responsibilities were not defined per-se. I was, through some very long years, able to hone my skills in so many areas. I was a mentor to so many during this time – most of which have gone on to become leaders in their own right. I was mentored by the owner of the business who had an amazing commitment and drive to succeed – with very limited funds – in the massively overpopulated CMS space. Postgraduate lecturer for modern web languages, databases and application development.Lecturing at Swinburne was an extraordinary opportunity to develop my abilities as a both a teacher and leader. I am always humbled when I run into former students who have been able to succeed in the ICT sector especially during the GFC. I was a firm believer in teaching passion and understanding before theory.

Started as a volunteer job whilst studying during high school and through to my Masters to assist my Grandfather. Key roles were Solutions Architect, Database Entry and Graphic Design, but were never limited to any particular area. I assisted with the modification to their existing system to handle Y2K compliance, but ultimately rebuilt the database using the then-new PHP with a MySQL backend. Whilst still operation today, using a then-new service based architecture (as opposed to the procedural, but still PRG, code of the day), I learnt a great deal about maintaining existing systems and why good architecture is a keystone to reducing costs – most developers don’t get to see the fruits of their labor still functional after 15+ years.
