I was the lead analytic programmer for a $50 million USAID M&E food security project. In this role I developed a system of analysis programs to produce standard nutrition and poverty indicators. I prepared scope of work statements, tabulation plans, and various other planning documents for use by team members and contractors. I played a central role in overseeing and reviewing the analytic work performed by other internal programmers and contactors. I served as the internal resource for consumption poverty analyses similar to LSMS analyses conducted by the World Bank.I functioned as a intermediary between data management and analysis staff by organizing and training a data management staff to process raw survey data into cleaned and consolidated data files. I provided troubleshooting assistance when data management staff encountered problems that they could not resolved and performed ad-hoc analyses to address the impact of data collection procedures and data quality on population estimates derived from survey data. For example, I evaluated the potential biases imposed by CAPI programming errors and prepared sensitivity analyses of the comparability of methods across surveys. My findings formed the basis for future analyses and have often prompted subsequent discussion with clients.
