About Alfonso Blanco Bonilla
Latin America and the Caribbean are advancing in their transitions to economies less dependent on carbon. Not necessarily because of a real obligation, due to a real conviction and commitment with the planet. The region only contributes 5% of greenhouse gas emissions in the energy sector, but it is one of the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and pays the cost of a degraded and affected environment. The inventory of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere have a small dependence of our past development, but as a region we pay most of the costs. However, in Latin America and the Caribbean we are committed with the climate action. This climate action must also ensure that the basic needs of our population are covered; needs of the most unequal region of the planet. Aligning interests and building this development model represents a complex task.For this reason, for years I have been committed to supporting the sustainable development of Latin America and the Caribbean based on the necessary actions in the energy sector, contributing to the design, analysis and implementation of public policies aimed at economic and social development. and promoting climate and environmental awareness.I am convinced that the market by itself cannot provide a solution to a problem whose root is the use and abuse of a common good for which no one assumes and pays its share of responsibility. Therefore, action is necessary based on public policies that have a responsible, pragmatic approach and a deep technical approach to the problem.Climate action is all of us, in each of our individual decisions, for this reason climate action must also be induced, taught and motivated. As a person of action, I have become a voice of opinion and an expert for consultation based on my accumulated experience of 25+ years in the energy sector, but fundamentally from the learning of having achieved success in multiple transformation processes. In those processes, I led the design and implementation of public policies, specialized in energy and climate diplomacy, developed infrastructure projects, and implemented energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. I have provided advice and consultancy to governments, international organizations and companies.

He was involved in the design, construction, procurement, planning and monitoring of the project's onshore and offshore sections in Uruguay and Argentina. He actively participated in the operations of offshore construction of the pipeline system and management of the two EPC contracts of the project.
