Blane McDowell is a second-year student at Point Park University majoring in Sports Arts and Entertainment Management. He was focused on playing drums in his high school band which gave him a passion for music. Now, Blane is focusing his studies on Music Management and is excelling in his SAEM courses on Production and Event Management. He hopes to use this knowledge to eventually manage bands and musical entertainment. Because Blane has a love for travel both near and far, it makes him believe that accompanying musical acts will be easy to adjust to time changes and cultures as well as being exciting.Teaching part time at a Martial Arts School is another one of Blane’s passions. Besides having a red belt in Hapkido and a blue belt in Jujitsu, he helps instruct students to learn the steps to achieve their next belt levels. Blane hopes to use these leadership skills to manage teams when producing shows for his clients. Although he doesn’t have practical experience in Event Management, he does understand the importance of following rules, regulations and instructions for safety’s sake. Blane spent a summer building 180-foot communication towers and knew that any wrong moves could possibly cause a catastrophe at the job site.My three short term goals are to update my Handshake Account, Attend as many Job Fairs pertaining to Music/Event Management and Productions as I can, and to do Internships my Junior and Senior years.My 3 longnterm goals are: 1. To land a job upon graduation - possibly in the music industry 2. To work in Event Management within 3-5 years 3. Move to production assistant / talent manager assistant around year 5
