I am a basic scientist with a special interest in unraveling sex and gender differences in pain and the immune system: two worlds that are intertwined more than one might think. I share my enthusiasm for science with students by developing, coordinating, teaching and coaching in Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Radboudumc, with a focus on immunology (Specialization Coordinator "Immunology and Host Defence"). My teaching focus is on curriculum innovation and design, teacher professionalisation and coaching. I enjoy creating innovative educational elements that ignites a spark to think beyond the usual.In pain research we are often on islands focussed on our own expertise. However, pain is very complex and multifaceted. We will never fully understand it if we only stay on your own island.
