Held several positions of responsibility at Metatomix, including Director of Client Applications (responsible for a team of developers building custom applications for clients), VP of Technology (worked closely with current and potential partners to promote and leverage the platform) and VP of Engineering (responsible for the management and delivery of all software products). As VP, Semantic Technologies, primary responsibility was to ensure the advancement and customer deployment of advanced semantic technologies available in the Metatomix platform. Major accomplishments included:• Development of rules-based policy engine, providing Metatomix’s unique value offering – low-cost business-driven enterprise information and process integration.• Restructured and rebuilt the engineering organization after a major reorganization and severe downsizing, resulting in a highly functioning organization, shipping a major platform release and several minor releases in the process.• Integrated and enhanced several disparate company technologies into released product offerings, increasing the IP of the company and providing a supportable software base.• Streamlined and focused application development efforts, resulting in the productization of several overlapping customer service projects that provided the bulk of the company’s revenue.• For Airbus Industries, State Street Bank, UCB Celltech and other customers, successfully overcame all design, development and performance concerns, exceeding all milestones and managing technical relationship at all levels, resulting in increased project scope and several software licensing deals.• Provided initial and advanced training to State Street Corporation’s China Center of Excellence, improving acceptance and utilization of Metatomix semantic integration technologies at State Street.

• Acting CTO/technical consultant for MetaStories, a Seattle-based firm specializing in rich media software and services, making major contributions in the areas of tactical and strategic business planning, funding, and software development. Provided major upgrade of software enabling many up-sell opportunities including increased sales at the Discovery Channel and leading the way to MetaStories’ ultimate acquisition by Brightcove.• Performed technical assessments for various venture capital firms resulting in several successful investments.• Developed interactive application for the 3D visualization of extremely large, high-dimensional data sets for Neogenesis, a Cambridge-based biotech firm, resulting in an improved mechanism for identifying and classifying drug candidates and optimizing the path to increased revenues.

Development Lead, Microsoft Vizact 2000• Led a team of nine developers from product inception to on-time release of Microsoft Vizact 2000, a Java/XML-based authoring tool for interactive web documents, as a standalone Microsoft Office 2000 product. • Technology developed for Vizact eventually became the Microsoft PowerPoint animation engine.Development Lead, Microsoft Liquid MotionLiquid Motion was a Java-based authoring tool for web-based interactive animations.• Assumed leadership of a dissolving development team near the end of a project, pulling the team together to ship the product on time. • Developed streaming animation technology shipped with Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer 4.
