Hi, I’m Bill 👋. I'm passionate about building companies that uplift humanity. I love crafting a bold vision and rallying amazing people to make that vision a reality. That’s what drives me to be an entrepreneur and leader.As a leader, I believe that people are our greatest assets. I believe in finding people’s superpowers and empowering them to do their best work. I believe in developing people, inspiring them to achieve more than they thought they could and working together in an idea meritocracy. I believe in creating an environment of positivity and accountability where a team can come together to achieve great things. I’ve had the benefit of great mentors and this is what they did for me.As a kid, my curiosity led me to fall in love with computers. As I grew older that curiosity led me to mathematics, engineering, neuroscience and AI. I had the privilege of being mentored by the renowned neural networks pioneer, Professor Robert Hecht-Nielsen, from high school through getting my Ph.D. under his supervision. Robert was a bonafide genius, AI pioneer and co-founder of HNC Software Inc (NASDAQ listed then acquired by FICO) which became the first neural networks "unicorn" in the '90s after developing the widely used Falcon® card fraud detection system.In college and graduate school I worked in early stage startups building technology ventures from the ground up. I led teams solving problems ranging from philanthropy to healthcare leveraging machine learning, data science and artificial intelligence.In 2015 I founded Groundwork to help nonprofits solve challenges with managing money. I led an incredible team that built the first neobank and transparent money management solution for youth sports organizations that helped over 13,000 teams and clubs safely manage over $150M. In 2021 Groundwork was acquired by Snap! Mobile Inc., the largest provider of online fundraisers to school and youth activities. I served as VP Product for Financial Technology and integrated Groundwork (now Snap! Spend) into the Snap platform. I also launched a new product to enable Snap to advance funds to programs ahead of running their Snap! Raise campaign.Now I'm returning to my roots in AI and building a new startup. Stay tuned.
