Working on a Gynaecology ward allowed me to to gain vital ward experience such as taking patient observations. I was able to reassure patients and family when they expressed being worried and worked well with the rest of the multi-disciplinary team. I also had a chance to admit patients into a day case ward before their operations, go into theatre to watch two surgeries and follow them to an aftercare ward. This allowed me to see all aspects of patients journey in the hospital which then helped me in giving them the best possible after care I could

Working with the District Nurses based at Braunstone Health and Social Care Centre allowed me to work on my patient and family communication. I was able to pick up on and work on many skills such as patient note writing, following care plans and basic care in homes for patients - such as giving medication for diabetics, leg ulcers, and basic wound care
