Historic Restoration and Conservation Contracting

As the Assistant Project Manager for ARG Conservation Services. I worked with conservators, property managers, city planners and structural engineers alike to plan, execute, and report the restoration and repair of historic buildings and monuments. I also was available to work hands-on as a conservation technician in the field for smaller projects. This allows me to use my background in construction and fine arts to aid conservators in activities such as mural restoration, mosaic repairs, wood conservation, sacrificial graffiti coatings, bronze waxing, and the cleaning and repair of stone architectural elements. Projects I have been involved in range in size from small repairs of historic finishes to full facade restorations in downtown San Francisco.

My job varies day to day. Half of the time I assist the campus appointed millwright with steam and radiant heating maintenance on campus, the other half I work with the off-campus crew maintaining the historic president and chancellor residences, as well as various office buildings. Maintenance issues range from painting to servicing rooftop HVAC units.

Project management intern - finding suppliers, materials, doing estimating, researching best practice methods for historic restoration projects, doing some hands on restoration work and fabrication

Created and taught a 7 week intensive beginners course. Taught 3 classes a week - two weeknight and one weekend course while also working full time.

I stocked work sites and maintained the warehouse materials and tools, created a tool management system for the different phases of construction and ordering purposes, wrote our site safety manual and led safety trainings.
