Amazing experience of scale up venture in Silicon Valley during the "first Internet bubble".

After two years as deputy general manager and member of the board of directors of ODA (company in charge of advertising in « official » Yellow Pages), I launched this company, renamed in 1991 Annuaire Soleil, that published in Paris and suburbs about ten directories, competitors of the France Telecom (today Orange) Yellow Pages.This « start-up », financed by venture capital (€ 10 million for three rounds with APAX as leading investor), achieved about € 12 million of turnover and employed 80 collaborators when I yielded my stocks in 1995 to the Bouygues Group, at the time of its entry into the telecommunications sector. It had reached its breakeven point, after several up and downs and very aggressive competition, the previous year.

Successively Chief Development Officer of Siteco, CEO of SecurEsys, Director in charge of new technologies of ESYS. As CEO of SecurEsys, a subsidiary of the group resulting from an acquisition, I operated a reengineering plan of the company (Euros10 million of turnover, 110 collaborators brought back to …60) confronted with serious difficulties and refocused its activity on its core business in synergy with its parent company, a specialist of energy management for residential and industrial use.

For 18 months, part-time and alongside my other professional activities (see above), I advised the Minister in charge of Telecommunications and Postal Services, Mr. Gérard Longuet, on strategic issues in the sector, as a 'Special Assistant'. The political context was very particular, as Jacques Chirac's government was operating within the framework of the 'first cohabitation', where the parliamentary majority did not correspond to the presidential majority.

Recruited by Mr. Marcel Dassault within the family holding, I was the founding Partner of this Communication Consulting Company, founded by his grandson Olivier, which federated several specialized subsidiaries, of which I managed some operationally. I was thus successively COO of Publi Matignon, the first Advertising Agency created by the Group, then of Profilco, its Direct Marketing Agency. When I left the group following its acquisition, it was the 9th French Group of Communication (ranked by the weekly “Strategies” 1983).
