Research fellow at Kentalis Academy

For my Major Research Project, I did part of my internship at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at RIT. Under supervision of prof. dr. Marc Marschark I studied the online activities of deaf, hard of hearing and hearing adolescents in the US. Also the quality of their offline, online and mixed friendships was examined, together with its relationship with the adolescents' well-being. Another part of the data was gathered in the Netherlands under supervision of prof. dr. Harry Knoors and dr. Mathijs Vervloed.

During my Master, I did a combined internship at an special education school in Groesbeek and a diagnostic center in Nijmegen. For me, it was the perfect opportunity to get to know more about two different fields in which a pedagogue could be active: The diagnostic center learned me how to do diagnostics, write an advice for parents and have a consultation with the parents. The special education school gave me more insights in working in multidisciplinary teams, writing treatment plans and tutoring pupils.
