    The National Blue Alert System began in 2008 when Disabled Military Veteran, Tom Berry, teamed up with various agencies to develop an early warning system to help find violent criminals that injure or kill law enforcement officers. The name Blue Alert is named using the Thin Blue Line theme associated with law enforcement. Other states and communities are soon to set up their own Blue Alert Systems as the concept is adopted across the nation. We are now in 31 States with more to come on-line, Also we have a bill in Congress to get the Blue Alert System in all 50 States. The House and Senate Passed the Bill May 2015. UPDATE: President Obama, Signed the Blue Alert into Law on May 19, 2015. Tom also started the Blue Alert Foundation, an 501(c)3 Tax Exempt Public Charity, in 2012 to help families of Fallen Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty.
