My name is Blythe Giddings and I received, from the University of Arizona, my degree in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies.Throughout my time at the University, I have gained leadership experience through the UA Teaching Teams as both a Junior and Senior Intern. I have also served as a Preceptor at the University of Arizona in the course titled: Spirituality, Psychology and the Mind. Through this, I have learned how to be both supportive and directive as a leader and to always leave room for the ideas of others. Outside of my education, I have worked for 9 years in the Food Service Industry, which has led me to work with a variety of different people, making me more flexible and skilled in problem solving as well as communication. Through my work at Collins Irish Pub in Flagstaff, Arizona, I have learned what is required of leadership positions within Food and Beverage Services: namely how to act as a liaison between management and employees, employees and patrons, and between coworkers. In the future, I hope to apply my breadth of experience and knowledge in a new setting: Elder Care. It may seem like a jump- but I have met more people than I could count in the past 9 years between food service and my education. Especially with the first 5 having been in Assisted Living. I have a wealth of ideas and a passion for the interests of others- where I hope to bring excitement and anticipation back to the lives of our elders.
