About Brian Mach
As a recent graduate of the University of Washington Seattle with a degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical engineering, I have developed a strong interest in controls, mechanical, and electrical engineering. My education has provided me with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in these fields.Prior to my engineering degree, I honed my interpersonal and time management skills by working in various positions in fast-paced food service industries, including fine dining. During this time, I explored a variety of interests such as computers, electronics, fitness, and holistic health.Throughout my education, I took three engineering physics courses at North Seattle College that featured semester-long team projects. These projects challenged me and furthered my understanding of engineering physics. With collaboration and creativity, my team and I designed and fabricated a trebuchet, step-up transformer, and a one-octave glass armonica from scratch. The step-up transformer was built for a shock handles project in which DC was converted to AC by passing the current from a 9V battery through a simple brush motor to the transformer. In turn, the changing magnetic flux within the transformer generated enough current through the secondary coil to send a tingling sensation to two copper shock handles. Upon request, the project was donated to the engineering physics department at the end of the quarter to showcase and inspire prospective engineers.Studying amongst some of the brightest scholars and mentors at UW has furthered my passion for engineering. The aerospace laboratory provided me with plenty of team-based hands-on technical experience that required cumulative knowledge of previous courses. Aside from wind tunnel testing, I used a multitude of electrical equipment including oscilloscopes, function generators, digital multimeters, power supplies, and Arduinos for analysis.
