As a small-town kid with a big family, I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. Fast forward more than a few years later, and I’ve realized I just want to be what I am, someone with a passion for helping others grow, professionally and personally, and a passion for leading and succeeding on project teams. With nearly twenty years in the United States Army, I am still serving because I still can have a positive impact on young Soldiers, to help develop them to be future leaders of our great organization. Along the way, I’ve led projects from new facilities construction in Afghanistan, to the installation and integration of modern networks and IT infrastructure across Southwest Asia, with dozens of others in between. Conversely, I’ve found a love for the “Controls” world in my civilian life. No other industry appeals so strongly to both the logical, technical, and organization side of my mind through engineering and attention to detail while also appealing to the creative, problem solving, and artistic side of me. Guiding a project to successful completion, through innovation and experience, while bonding with and leading a team is what I do. I prefer to stay out of the spotlight, I’m happier with results instead of recognition. When I’m not putting in the extra hour for either of my careers, or pursuing additional education, I’m enjoying time with my wife and our little pack of dogs, hiking, reading, or drawing. As I’m wrapping up some time overseas with the Army, I’m seeking new opportunities back in Las Vegas. I look forward to the next chapter in the book, though I’m still not sure how it should end.
