I am responsible for the specification, development and improvement of the “Dematic Concepting Engine” (DCE) which is a cloud based (Azure) analytics and design platform that helps consultants and solution design engineers to process customer data and determine the optimal system design. Impact: The platform has reduced the lead-time from RFQ to response, from 8 weeks to same week thereby increasing sales bid capacity by 800% for a large segment of the business.Workloads: The platform processes 1.2T rows of data a month and supports 218 users and has had 0% downtime for 800 days of operation. The 1,600 customer projects and 4-5 times as many scenarios are available on demand to any user. It supports high fidelity simulation of various products and permits rapid investigation of "what if" scenarios. Users can select any available cloud SKU for their projects and have HPC support for CPU intense workloads.Tech stack: The platform is managed as infrastructure as code (iac) and applies the latest standard for developer support with automated pipelines, package and service templates. Doctoral Research: How to make the most productive intervention in a complex economic systemContribution: I specified and led the development (TDD) of a generic model of supply networks for real-time scheduling using only 3 concepts: storage, relocation and transformation. This discovery led to a collapse in perceived supply network complexity and founded the project that sponsored the development of Smart Supply Network.
