I am a design facilitator, researcher, and educator, helping people develop innovative strategies, services and ways of working. I am passionate about creative methodologies – drawing on participatory design, systemic design, frame creation, service design and futuring in my work. I love to break apart methods and choreograph design processes that include stakeholders in empowering ways. I lead multi-disciplinary design research teams to investigate complex issues and deliver tangible results. I am currently a Senior Lecturer in Social and Service Design at the University of Technology Sydney. Here, I direct the Bachelor of Design Honours degree and teach design at an interaction and systems level. In 2022, I developed a social innovation pathway for Honours students to co-design their major project with community stakeholders and address a real-world problem. My research uncovers emerging design practices and their impact on the world. I previously led large industry-funded projects at the UTS Design Innovation Research Centre. These found sensitive and enlightening interventions for issues of sexual violence, financial abuse, and bribery, as well as designing future TAFE campus experiences, health services, and organisational strategies. In 2020, our design of a student-led campaign to change attitudes that support sexual harassment won an Australian Good Design Award for social impact. Prior to my design career, I led stakeholder engagement projects for 10 years in the corporate and government sectors. I find this an indispensable foundation to manage the collaborative nature of designing that we need today.
