Primary responsibilities included designing, developing, and maintaining the financial software systems that power the now-defunct CPMKTS family of indexes. System was responsible for the daily acquisition, transformation and storage of financial market data used in the calculation of several published US market indices. Includes a real-time calculator component responsible for real-time intraday updates to several large (3,000+ bonds) fixed income indices. Also includes a data warehouse storing 30 years of complete historical financial data for the US fixed income and equity markets, consuming approximately 4TB.• Designed database to hold security master data for equity & fixed income securities. Database contains several million securities with full history of attributes that have changed over time, such as factor, rating, coupon, description (fixed income) and ticker, shares outstanding, description (equity).• Designed database to hold full daily price history for several million fixed income and equity securities. Database contains several billion records of data.• Developed multi-threaded abstract object library to allow for rapid development of data transformation applications.• Developed applications to retrieve data from Reuters Data Services, validate and normalize the data, and load it into our database. Applications made heavy use of threads to ensure that data was being processed at the maximum speed.• Developed bond price yield analytic calculation library optimized for speed and accuracy. Software was able to calculate over 1 million securities in under 20 minutes.• Designed and developed all index total return calculations for fixed income and equity data.• Developed workflows and algorithms to automate the bond index selection process following a series of complicated rules designed to produce a small index of a few thousand securities that has strong correlation with the full fixed income market.
