Biomedical Microdevices LaboratoryHeart failure monitoring with a wireless medical device.• Developed a non-invasive, wireless heart monitoring device that detects heart failure before it occurs in the patient, with the goal of preventing costly hospital readmissions.• Interacted with patients, nurses, and cardiologists to understand their needs.• Performed stakeholder analysis, created a user needs document, and wrote design specifications.• Researched market potential, regulatory, intellectual property, and reimbursement considerations.• Created market test strategies to understand consumers and determine entry into the market.• Designed a clinical trial to test and demonstrate the clinical effectiveness of the device in patients.

Research topics: • High-speed cockroach locomotion and maneuvers in response to sharp transitions such as walls and obstacles with applications in robotics• Role of antenna in high-speed locomotion with applications in robotics• Designed and performed experiments to characterize a transition maneuver of the American cockroach.• Invented new experimental setups by fabricating custom parts using machine shop tools.• Captured and analyzed high-speed video footage of cockroaches using cameras, AOS Imaging Studio software, and ProAnalyst software.• Designed an organized data structure format using MATLAB language to compile data.• Performed statistical analysis on collected data to quantitatively characterize cockroach maneuvers.• Documented high-speed cockroach behaviors with accurate written descriptions and videos.• Published a scientific journal paper with a team of graduate students and professors on the discovery of a transition behavior of the American cockroach and its application to robotic design.
