I work for the University of Portsmouth which is located in a vibrant city on the beautiful South Coast of England and is only 90 minutes from central London.I started working at the University of Portsmouth in April 2017 when I was appointed to the position of International Director and in December 2021 my role was re-designated to Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement) reflecting my expanded responsibilities for global engagement and, in particular, engagement with external stakeholders and partners. In July 2023, I was appointed to the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement and Student Life) at the University of Portsmouth including a broader strategic role, supporting the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Global Engagement) on overseeing all our global engagement activities including a greater focus international TNE and partnerships work. Previously I had been working at the University of South Wales since September 2002, starting in the International Recruitment Office as an International Officer and have progressed to various positions at the University including Head of International Business & Development in the Faculty of Business and Society, Acting Director of the International Office, Head of Student Recruitment and Head of Enquiries & Admissions.My work experience to date has allowed me to engage at both an operational and strategic level in Higher Education across the UK and globally.My primary experience is in Higher Education and is particularly related to admissions, marketing, partnerships, recruitment and business development.Over the years I have developed strong links and networks in the UK and a large number of countries overseas as a result of the nature of my work.Since 2002 I have worked on many cross University working groups and committees. Whilst externally I have acted in an advisory capacity to a number of organisations such as the British Council, Wales International Consortium (WIC), Universities Wales, UUKi and I served on the Executive Committee of the British Universities' International Liaison Association (BUILA) fifteen years as an elected member of the Executive Committee and for four of these years I held the position of the Chair of the Association.Currently I serve as an advisory capacity on various advisory groups and boards and I am active member of the UUKi Pro Vice Chancellor International Network. In my spare time I also serves as a Trust Governor at a local secondary school in Hampshire where I am the Safeguarding Lead Governor.
