My professional work is rooted in creating K-20 schooling experiences rooted in equity, inclusivity, and social justice. This means not transforming schools but rather pushing for transformative changes to the schooling experience. This is grounded in my research interests related to the role of the building leader in developing and supporting meaningful student voice as part of transformative high school reform. My areas of professional contribution have included the education of K-12, undergraduate, and graduate students, as well as the professional development of pre-service and in-service teachers. I have mentored and supervised more than 170 K-12 building- and district-level administrator interns, and trained more than 200 teachers, coaches, and building- and district-level leaders in project-based learning. My current work focuses on school transformation rooted in meaningful, deep partnerships with business, post-secondary, and community organizations that also includes the voice of students and parents. This work requires me to listen with empathy, seek to honor and recognize the stories of others, and use an outward mindset approach.
