About Bryan Steven Monge Serrano

I am a senior at Stanford majoring in Data Science (Mathematical and Computation subplan) with a minor in Chinese Studies. At Stanford, I have worked on research, both independently and in a lab setting, helped with community oriented organization, worked on marketing and outreach initiatives, and am a part of several spaces on campus. Academically, I am focused on studying statistics and programming alongside machine learning and AI with the hope of understanding how to apply this knowledge in a real-world context, such as the study the causal relationships between race and ethnicity and democratic participation. Currently, I have worked on projects in C, C++, Java, Python, Pandas, R, ArcGIS, and am eager to learn more.Prior to Stanford, I engaged in community work regarding gentrification and tenants rights in Flushing, my hometown, with the Minkwon Community Center, learned photography with the Bronx Documentary Center, and learned Mandarin Chinese as a student with the US State Department's National Security Language Initiative for Youth Academic Year program. In high school, I worked on mainly on addressing education disparities through tutoring for the admissions exam to specialized high schools and community building through work in affinity spaces.
