iSeries analyst engaged in custom development for in-house brokerage processing for the largest privately owned customs house in North America. Primary work was to develop new systems for automated data processing, front-end data entry and specialized reporting involving PDF or Excel reports from an iSeries platform in all areas of the company (Brokerage, AR/AP financial, Sales Force reporting, International Consulting). This included implementation planning (system development life cycle), iSeries system administration task support and setup, training support for users, Q/A testing and development of customized testing plans. Completion of development operations, user training and support was completed at the head of two subordinate Developer / Analysts at my direction, covering full scale review of initial tasks, periodic review of analytical findings from user/analyst input sessions, solutions development, testing and implementation.Additional tasks included a complete review of existing company software with a mandate towards modernization or removal due to obsolescence and to provide business justification for each recommendation to all levels of the corporation. This included a complete review of I.T. programming development methodologies and recommendations for modern Eclipse engine based development tools, purchase and implementation of industry standard software change-management technology.Analyst activities were carried out with minimal supervision across multiple software teams (iSeries, PC, Java (Web) and Progress), working with business analysts and subject matter experts (SME) to produce solutions. This included acting as a development SME across all teams, providing mentoring support to new hires, engaging with management to provide feedback on prospective new hires, providing project management guidance as needed for government mandated systems development and implementing in-house teaching solutions as dictated by project mandate.

Software development primarily based on financial and supply chain related interface systems, working in close support with senior level business analysts to strict development and documentation standards. Examples of this include a GL/AR interface for 15 internal companies standardized to process external sales, AR feeds, intercompany financial transfers and consolidated P&L data using strict security protocols to report sales and cash flow for international operations.Outside of normal software development, opportunities were taken to evaluate and establish solutions for end-user emergency support calls for internal customer groups including local corporate finance and payroll department and geographically dispersed duty free, legal, tax and treasury teams (United States and UK). This also included the delivery of in-group training sessions for end-users covering both midrange and PC client software packages.

Project leader and I.T. manager for a small I.T. department during the acquisition of the company by a U.S. based mult-national; the primary role was to manage daily operations for the data centre in a national wholesale chain with five separate locations across Canada while developing and enhancing data interfaces to the US parent company for financial and logistic/inventory control. Additional personnel roles included employee performance reviews, department budgeting, establishment of training plans for department personnel, and development of IT user policies, including the first accepted practices for internet usage across a corporate structure.Operational support in the I.T. department included ongoing review of all development tasks initiated through department requests, programming review and troubleshooting with subordinates where required and system administration support and set up for the AS/400 systems on site as resident system security officer.As part of the acquisition, there were also specific integration tasks required, including a complete roll out of new hardware for the entire headquarters covering standardized software and hardware (52 independant user stations, 208 individual software licenses), implemented for a completely new building network and the development of the first disaster recovery program for the company as required by the new owners.
