About Bernardo M. Rocamora Jr., Phd
I'm currently a robotics research engineer at L5 Automation, Inc., a startup that is trying to bring abundance to the world through automation. We're starting by building the first autonomous strawberry harvester that can pick strawberries under the dense foliage of the plants during peak season in outdoor conditions. Previously, I graduated with my Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering at West Virginia University. My Ph.D. research focused on robot motion planning for navigation in cluttered environments, working at the Field and Aerial Robotics lab under the supervision of Dr. Guilherme Pereira. I've worked as the manipulation lead, and system integration and autonomy co-lead for the WVU Robotics team which placed 6th out of 114 teams in one of NASA's Centennial Challenges (NASA Space Robotics Challenge Phase 2).Strong familiarity with (at minimum) the following: Matlab, C++, Python, ROS, Gazebo, OpenCV, CAD, Prototyping.
