The infrastructure handles approximately 70+% of PayPal's payments from 2014 onwards. Identified and documented basic principles that was used to build robust and scalable transaction platform. Designed (and implemented pieces of) a transaction model (a data model used to record payment information), that lends itself for sharding. This is the first change attempted at scale after the founding engineers of PayPal implemented a version which had powered PayPal for more than 13 years. Worked closely with operations and other cross functional teams to get changes accepted.
