Check Readiness:I've contributed to the "Check Readiness" initiative, assessing file servers, servers, MediaAgents, and applications. This involves validating network connections, resource availability, and capacity, including database agent configurations and remote connections. These assessments aim to prevent issues and ensure smooth operation. The project, implemented in C++, conducts predefined tests such as querying REST APIs and inspecting database values. I also helped redesign the report and improve readiness for Mongo DB clients. These checks now cover both Windows and Unix platforms to meet the needs of CommCells in Unix environments.Usage History Database:I created the Usage History Database to ease the strain on the primary Metrics Database caused by heavily used tables. Through strategic partitioning and data migration, I resolved storage issues, ensuring optimal system performance and scalability.Metrics Server Migration to Microsoft Azure Managed SQL Instance:I led a Proof of Concept (POC) to migrate the Metrics Server database from an on-premises SQL Server to Microsoft Azure Managed SQL Instance. I developed Azure Serverless functions to collect metrics data from CommCells, store it in Azure Blob Storage Containers, and insert it into the database tables. This streamlined data flow and management, leveraging Azure's scalability and efficiency.Backup and Restore Azure EC2:Managed comprehensive data backup and restoration operations for Amazon EC2 instances, VPCs, and EBS volumes. Utilized various backup strategies, including Full, incremental, synthetic full, and IntelliSnap backups, scheduled and on-demand. Developed core Backup modules in C++ and C# to securely connect to Amazon AWS via APIs, enabling blob-by-blob backup to on-premises or alternative cloud destinations. Supported disaster recovery scenarios by restoring EC2 instances, AWS resource tags, and individual guest files and folders, ensuring data integrity and recoverability.

Document Generation Framework:This feature serves as a pivotal time-saving tool, dramatically reducing the effort required for generating quarterly business reports, shifting from days or weeks to a single click. Utilizing a JavaScript dialog box, a Java handler interacts with the export module, accessing the document generator module fueled by pre-defined XML structures. These structures contain crucial information like document component specifications, associated T-SQL datasets, required inputs, and component types. Automation of Microsoft documents like DOCX and PPTX is facilitated by Java libraries such as docx4j and pptx4j. Dynamically adjusting component details through parsing the document XML and modifying template files stored in the file system, the generated document can be downloaded or emailed upon completion, based on user preferences.Service Pack Newsletter Automation:I conceptualized and implemented the automation tool for the Commvault Service Pack Newsletter. This tool, developed using Python, streamlines the process by accepting a raw HTML file containing product releases, alongside user inputs such as service pack details and release dates. Leveraging Python's PDFKit library, which acts as a wrapper for the wkhtmltopdf tool, the script parses the HTML file and organizes the data into a structured format within the output PDF. Additionally, I incorporated the ILovePDF service, utilizing their APIs to merge and split PDFs as necessary throughout the workflow.Multi-Tenant Metrics Reporting:I spearheaded the adaptation of the entire Metrics database to align with the company's transition towards the Software as a Service (SaaS) model, which included the introduction of CommVault Metallic. This involved modifying all pertinent tables, as well as updating stored procedures, cursors, and triggers to accommodate the changes necessitated by the shift in the operational model.

Metrics Reporting:I played a pivotal role in developing the Metrics Reporting feature, facilitating centralized performance monitoring across multiple CommCell environments via a unified interface. To collect metrics data, we employ the Metrics Upload C++ module, orchestrating scheduled tasks and executing T-SQL scripts through an intermediary Python script. Depending on CommCell visibility, the Python script manages script execution and data storage in XML or CSV format. Subsequent parsing logic extracts data from these files for populating the Metrics Database, with each entry linked to a unique upload ID. Finally, metrics reports are generated to visualize usage data based on specified timelines or criteria,Health Report:This specialized metrics report is integral to the overall metrics reporting framework, holding comparable significance. It provides a comprehensive overview of the CommCell environment's health through interactive tiles. These tiles convey vital information such as the status of backup operations aligned with Service Level Agreements, the latest installed versions of Commvault (CV), and Disaster Recovery settings. Each tile includes categories, descriptions, and the severity of identified issues. Users have the flexibility to adjust the content based on the severity level of the selected tile.

Simpana Reports:I collaborated on generating Simpana reports, which are traditional yet effective statistical reports aiding our customers in understanding various aspects like scale, efficiency, and costs of their data backup and restoration activities. Our system employs a UI interface written in Java, .Net named Simpana (a.k.a CommCell Console) for users to select desired reports and input relevant parameters. A C# request then transmits the chosen report ID and inputs in XML format. Subsequently, a C++ module, the report module, constructs essential T-SQL database queries based on inputs, executes them against connected SQL instances, and retrieves results into respective objects. The report output follows a predefined template corresponding to the report type, with resultant objects shaping the final report in desired formats (HTML, PDF, CSV, etc.). Finally, reports can be scheduled, emailed, or stored in the file system for easy access and reference.Custom Reports:I have spearheaded the development and management of numerous custom reports, leveraging advanced technologies to deliver actionable insights. These reports are meticulously crafted as XML files, meticulously structured to be read and visualized by our custom report engine powered by a robust Tomcat server, meticulously engineered in Java.The dynamism of these reports unfolds through their capability to execute a spectrum of data retrieval methods including T-SQL queries, stored procedures, REST APIs, and Datacube APIs. This diverse repertoire ensures seamless integration with various data sources, enriching the breadth and depth of insights.Upon retrieval of data from these diverse sources, our system orchestrates a captivating visualization experience, harnessing the capabilities of the Highcharts library. This synergy between data retrieval and visualization empowers stakeholders with intuitive and visually compelling representations, enabling informed decision-making and strategic planning.
