About Bob Jacobs
After a remarkable 25-year journey with NASA, I have decided to step away from public service and embark on the next chapter of my life. It has been an extraordinary honor to serve as the agency's senior government communicator, strategic leader, and crisis communicator. Most recently I served as Program Manager for the Digital and Technology Division, where I led the development of transformative digital solutions to elevate the agency’s online presence and engage audiences around the world.Holding a master’s degree in Strategic Communications and Leadership from Seton Hall University, I have remained dedicated to advancing the field and leading with integrity and innovation. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of pioneering NASA’s early ventures into social media, managing the transition of NASA TV to high-definition broadcasting, and launching North America’s first 4K channel, extending the agency's storytelling capabilities to new frontiers. My last assignment was developing NASA+, the agency's new streaming serving. Beyond technology, I’ve worked closely with filmmakers to bring NASA’s stories to the big screen through projects like First Man, Hidden Figures, and The Martian, connecting new audiences with our mission of exploration and discovery. These collaborations and the opportunity to spotlight humanity’s achievements have been among the most rewarding moments of my career.I am deeply grateful for the recognition I’ve received along the way, including two national Emmy Awards, more than a dozen Webbys, and the distinction of being named a Fellow within the Explorers Club. NASA has honored me with five medals for leadership and achievement, including its highest award, the Distinguished Service Medal. But above all, my passion has always been about inspiring curiosity—preserving NASA’s incredible legacy while empowering the next generation of explorers to reach even further. As I step into retirement, I look forward to new opportunities, personal growth, and continued involvement in meaningful endeavors. My heart remains forever tied to NASA’s mission, and I remain committed to supporting those who push the boundaries of possibility and inspire humanity to dream beyond the stars.Thank you to everyone who has shared this journey with me. The future holds infinite possibilities, and I can’t wait to explore them—just as I have done for the past quarter century with NASA.
