As an emerging artist he works mainly in acrylics. His fondness for the post modern impressionists and an expressive mind combine to produce what this artist calls a modern fusion While his process drawings can be quiet detailed and accurate the finished canvases are expressive to say the least. Colour, abstraction and physical form combine to help recreate past moments in time that he hopes will resonate with the passing viewer. One critic described his art as ‘being of a fractured mind’ which may help explain my finished works.

  Brendan is a Queensland based artist who lives on the northside of Brisbane at Redcliffe where he grew up roaming the beaches and playing cricket with his mates. He enjoys sketching in cafes and coffee houses where new faces, hands, shoes and conversations blend with his unique use of people’s upright and slouching postures that are a signature feature in his many paintings. It is in the vibrant situations that he will often start a new piece, not just capturing the image but rather exploring the physical forms and creating a mood from these situations by way of colour and simple abstraction… a process that comes naturally to him. He aims for his painted surfaces to be stimulating, engaging to the viewer, drawing you to look closely at the retro imagery and bright colours, and have fun with the art and its often ironic subtleties so fans of Fauvism and Expressionism will be drawn quickly to his style. His process involves mostly acrylic mediums however sometimes he will combine external collages as well, like his wonderful ‘sounds of music’ painting. Brendan’s works feature on his Facebook gallery and have been displayed at the State Library of Brisbane and part of 2015 QUT fashion Art Week.
