Brandon Norris (Negus Vu) Founder and president of Detroit Peoples Community (The Peoples Action) once a high-school dropout, in his early twenties suffered from lack of job opportunities and exposure that led him into being persuaded by a childhood friend to participate in illegal activities. With a checkered past, Negus has transformed his directly impacted experiences into a positive lifestyle. Realizing his purpose, he now combats the same cultural deviance that has plagued his development for years through community organizing that’s centered around direct services and personal transformational leadership. Negus Vu has guided many of his TPA members that are directly impacted through participatory practices and leadership workshops that is geared around financial sustainability, conflict resolution, community organizing and team ownership. Negus Vu also owns a cleaning company called Vu’s Cleaning Services which contracts low-income minority independent contractors. He also has ten years of experience in community organizing and project programming. Brandon Norris has a bachelor’s degree in biology science and has been trained in intervention violence work. He has also organized several political campaigns and constructed entrepreneur workshops with attendance of 200 and more. His passion is to build community institutions that elicit community pride while equipping them with tools to enhance their employability readiness.
