I always dreamed of hosting a late night TV show. One sleepless night, while waiting by the phone for Lorne to call me, I came up with the idea for my own show. This was the birth of 𝘚𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘸. Created in the summer of 2021, my goal was to inject my flair for the hilarious and absurd into the crowded sea of sleep-aid content online. Initially starting out as a pilot, I fell in love with the end result, and embarked on making it a series. Producing, writing, editing, and performing two 10-minute shows per month is a great challenge for a one-man show. Luckily, my secret weapon is Notion, which has allowed me to streamline my production workflow, resulting in high output, and more time for my wife, who I’m told is quite lovely. Before writing an episode, I ask myself, “what do you want to do/show this week?” This is the golden prompt that helps me remember that I make TV for me, and everyone else is invited to watch. To viewers, the program has an easygoing flow that lulls them to sleep. However, scripting an episode requires thoughtful planning of each segment's content and length to ensure a consistent final result.𝘚𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘸's transitions are intricately hypnotic, and editing them requires the most time of any other aspect of production. Starting in the second season, I began to write and plan out these transitions to speed up the editing process.Despite the challenges of being a one-man show, I continue to endure this creatively rewarding process on a regular basis. The result is a consistently funny, surreal, nostalgic, and hypnotic hodgepodge of calm music, home videos, and fuzzy archival footage.I'm thrilled to announce that 𝘚𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘸 is now in its second season and is available on YouTube, Plex, and Spotify.
