Better construction site management

We are creating a new, disruptive channel in an antiquated supply chain. Enabling higher profitability for farmers and customers while reducing waste.

I have the pleasure and privilege of giving back and advancing the field of Supply Chain Management in Israel, through investing time in teaching future engineers.

Grad student and research assistant at the MIT Engineering Systems Division

Consulting project as class assignment for Intel (3 men team). For this very successful project, I used system dynamics modeling tools and methods to better understand some of Intel’s supply-chain problems. While our findings were counter-intuitive and in fact went against Intel’s initial perception of the nature of their problem, Intel executives were very excited about the project outcome, which included some very surprising insights into Intel’s relationships with their thousands of resellers. While the findings themselves are confidential, they resulted in the re-examination of Intel’s nation-wide multi-billion dollar credit policies. (during graduate studies)

I was Responsible for advanced system integration in customer sites around the globe. Position required very high work ethics. I Traveled all around the world to install, upgrade and perform maintenance on multi-million dollar voice-mail, text messaging and billing systems, both software and hardware. Such systems were typically made of tens of racks, with systems carrying customer data and service capabilities. As work was done on live systems, extra care had to be taken not to bring the systems down while working on them (systems had to be up 99.999% of the time). Among software handled: Windows, Unix, Sun Solaris and proprietary software. About 60% of the time I was part of expert teams, with the remaining 40% of the time working alone, handling all on-site technical aspects as well as customer relations on my own. Although interpersonal relations were not part of the formal job description, I established very good personal relations with customers of diverse backgrounds.

Part of a three men elite translator team. Our team was the sole translator for all Sony, Toshiba, Brother and other major brand-name manufacturers imported to Israel. Product breadth handled included home-entertainment, appliance, computer hardware and software and A/V products. In addition to translation, I wrote special code (similar to HTML) that enabled keeping the original text and graphics format in the translated document. While this burdened our team with negligible extra work, it enabled the company to deliver the end-product much faster and with superior quality.

(during undergraduate studies)Performing sophisticated statistical analysis on existing test data, as well as running prescribed tests and developing new test procedures for the company’s line of high precision advanced electro-optical equipment, designed for lens-mapping and testing.

(during undergraduate studies)To get the job, very high test scores (equivalent to the top two percentile SAT or GMAT scores) had to be obtained. Job training included subject matter as well as instruction methodology.

Quality Control and later establishing and managing the calibration system at Oridion Medical Inc., world leader in the design and manufacture of innovative CO2 breath analyzers as well as other medical equipment. These breath analyzers (called capnographs) are a critical element in operating rooms and neonatal intensive care units. Job included designing, managing and implementing the calibration activities company wide, based on relevant industry and military standards. Wrote all of the company’s calibration procedures, established relations with calibration service providers and was a signatory on any measuring equipment purchase, company wide. Responsible for successful ISO certification, as well as HP audits for the calibration system (the only part of the enterprise to pass the audit without a single action-item).

Full term military service in the IDF. Intelligence corps. Honorary discharge as First Sergeant. During my service, operated and maintained cutting-edge top-secret systems, from high level assembly to single component troubleshooting, sometimes under combat conditions. Designed and built some innovative system elements that were later introduced into active service. Towards the end of my service (the last 6 months), I was in charge of a team of 4 technical experts, overseeing their work, scheduling their assignments, training and testing.
