Robert C Atchley has spent more than 50 years doing research on adult psychological development and aging, particularly adaptation to retirement and disability and the interplay of aging and spirituality. He is the creator of Continuity Theory, an open-system feedback theory of adaptation. He is author of more than twenty books, including Social Forces and Aging, the first successful textbook in social gerontology, Aging: Continuity and Change, The Sociology of Retirement, Continuiity and Adaptation in Aging, and Spirituality and Aging.Atchley is an exprienced speaker and workshop presenter, having given more than 500 public lectures and offered hundreds of workshops. He also has more than 40 years' experience as a university professor.He is also an experienced consultant who has helped develop educational programs, develop research programs and projects, create gerontology centers, and develop public policy.Bob Atchley is also an experienced singer-songwriter with more that 40 original songs recorded on three Compact Discs: Life Lessons, Bob's Blues, and All Aboard. He often intersperses music with talk in his public presentations. Bob also offers songwriting workshops for all age groups.
