After spending the last 20 years as a White Collar Criminal Defense Attorney working on high-profile cases like WorldCom, Tyco, the BP oil spill and VW "dieselgate", it was time for profound change. My 14-year marriage and career as an attorney simultaneoulsy and unexpectedly ended. I had to start over, and I was determined to do it better the second time around. So, I embarked on a crash course in personal reflection and growth. I quickly saw how many blind spots I had in my marriage and how much I had gotten wrong because I didn’t know better or have the tools to succeed. And, perhaps most importantly, I saw that I needed to take responsibility for my part in the failure of my marriage. I also saw that I was not the role model I wanted to be for my two children. I needed to learn how to do better for myself, for my kids and to have the elevated relationship I sensed was possible.I discovered I had much to learn about, among other things: --connection--understanding the dynamics between men and women--the importance of the masculine and feminine balance--safety and consent--differing forms of desire I recognized that many men, including myself, were not taught the essential skills for healthy relationships. Instead, we were exposed to unhealthy masculine role models, witness to dysfunctional relationships and detrimental societal messages. I felt clueless and angry. I was angry at the “injustice” of trying to succeed in an environment that was stacked against me as a man. And I was angry that all men have to needlessly endure this same frustration.I now work with high-performers because I see that they face unique additional challenges--many qualities that lead to professional success can become obstacles in personal relationships. I now see how failing to turn off my work persona caused tremendous damage to my marriage and even my relationships with my children. My journey has been filled with struggles and learning, and I want to ease the path for others by sharing my insights.
