Managing Director
CurrentAyrshire Steels was started in 1987, as a steel trading & merchanting company. I wanted to continue to operate within a business sector I enjoyed and also having experience in civil engineering & quarrying, helped to open the door to another interesting and diverse use for some of these products. The processing side of the company started to flourish and I am delighted to say that with the help of great employees and many loyal clients we have reached a very satisfactory level of business.Like many businesses in our sector, the recession had quite a severe effect, but hard work has promoted steady growth and we are heading back to pre-recession levels.Recent purchases of new delivery vehicles, equipment and an increase in the workforce, have also helped us improve efficiency & customer service. Now, after 34 years in business (48 in the trade) and thinking retirement was round the corner, we are expanding once again, with work levels over 12 months in advance. The deck chair, Bacardi and cigars & long holiday in the sun will have to wait !Now...Another expansion...Having sold our existing premises & site, we are relocating to larger premises nearby. This time our facility has increased to 18,000 square feet, which will allow us to advance both our manufacturing and stockholding operations... Retirement's for old people !I am delighted to announce that we are now involved in set construction for the film industry, having recently worked with the crew on the latest 'Bat Girl' epic filmed in Glasgow.
