Robert (Bob) Bevan has many of years experience involved in crime reduction and community safety. His 32 year police career saw him in 2003 seconded to the Home Office and Welsh Government as the regional Business Crime Reduction Advisor working on the first business crime strategy for Wales. This included production of both Home Office and Welsh Government business crime reduction advice documents and related projects including the promotion of local business crime partnerships and the Wales ‘e crime’ project and strategy. On completion of his police service in 2008 he was appointed by Newport Local Authority as its Community Safety Coordinator working in partnership to achieve reductions in crime and disorder across the city, including the opening of the new Newport Domestic Abuse Unit. He is presently the Director of a newly formed business called ‘Crime and Community Safety Solutions’ and has used his knowledge and experience working with Littoralis to produce the new DISC-CSP and CSP Plus product. This included the opening of a new suite of offices, and implementation of new multi agency domestic abuse working practices that received two Welsh Government Gwent Pathfinder Awards.-Oversight on behalf of the CSP of the first Domestic Homicide and combined Safe Guarding Children’s review in Wales and perhaps in the UK.-Project management and implementation of a pilot shared ASB database that improved communication and networking across the partnership.-Represented Newport on the Gwent Police and Crime Commissioners Community Safety leads forum; Gwent Special Domestic Violence Courts Forum; Gwent Integrated Offender Management Board; Gwent Youth Crime Prevention Forum.In 2012 I was requested to become an elected officer of the Wales Association of Community Safety Officers and took up the post of Treasurer.
Business Crime Reduction Advisor
Appointed as the first Wales Business Crime Reduction Advisor working with the Home Office Business Crime Team and part of the first team of three police officers to be seconded to the Welsh Assembly now the Welsh Government. During this time I researched, produced and commenced implementation of the first business crime reduction strategy for Wales. - Wrote and delivered the first welsh government business crime strategy- Worked with the four welsh police forces and 22 Community Safety Partnerships in Wales to promote business related crime as an important facet of crime reduction within communities.- Worked with the Home Office to produce advice guidance and literature relating to business related crime matters.- Collaborated with other advisors in Government Offices across England on Home Office Business Crime initiatives such as the introduction of Business Crime Reduction Partnerships.- Provided advice and guidance to Home Office and Welsh Government ministers and civil servants on crime reduction matters.- Involved in, and carried out community safety practitioner training, seminars and conferences with the Home Office Crime Team in Wales on a number of subjects and regional challenges.- Led for the Home Office Director in Wales on the introduction of new Welsh Government community safety web pages including a good practice database. - Initiated and set up with Welsh Government and police colleagues the’ e crime wales steering group’ that has been recognised as a model of good practice across the UK for government, police and business.- Worked with Home Office officials on the introduction of the Tilley Awards.- Part of the project team to produce and implement an e crime strategy and commence a series of national conferences.- Initiated and led on the setting up of the Wales against Business Crime Forum.- Assisted in the delivery of an internet based community safety problem solving and finance tool.
