Projects have included from Commercial Offices, Retail Outlets, Rail/Air/Port Infrastructure, Military Establishments, Tunnels, Arenas, Factories, Pharmaceutical & Food Processing Plants, Breweries, IT Centres, Gas Storage and Water Treatment WorksAlthough my work is now, almost, exclusively MEP Building Services, I have undertaken civil and structural modelling. Whilst I'll draught and coordinate different disciplines, I restrict any designing to electrical matters, eg. lighting and power.Some of the more unusual projects I've been called to work on included:Maps/Charts, Outdoor Cinemas, Mecanum Wheels, Confectionery Manufacturing Machines, A Stationary Steam Engine, Railway Carriage A/C Systems & Rolling Stock Wash Treatment Plant.I'm experienced in setting up and administering on-site Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems. I started using Autocad in 1989, which ran under DOS. But in more recent times Bentley's various MicroStation versions have been used for rail projects, (OpenRail and AECOsim being the more recent).In the past I've researched cost effective alternatives to MicroStation and Autocad using Linux: Bricscad, Draftsight, ARES Commander, Google Sketchup and FreeCAD. The last one is something of a favourite and is under constant development around the world.A longer running project involves the use of Meshroom and PhotoModeler which, by means of close range photogrammetry, permits 3D models to be produced from photographs. As 3D CAD modelling of building services morphs into Building Information Modelling, (BIM), so I've become more interested in programming.
