Bob Burden was raised on a dairy family farm in Arnprior Ontario. In addition to this hand’s on experience in primary agricultural production, he has a B.Sc. in Agriculture, an M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics and an MBA specializing in Finance and Management Science. Bob augmented his educational experience with a professional valuation certification, obtaining his Certified Valuation Analyst designation in June 2003. Since joining Serecon in 1991, Bob has been involved in a significant number of assignments with clients around the world and is now one of Serecon’s managing partners. Serecon is a company that specializes in the business of agriculture with offices and/or affiliations in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and more recently in the US through an affiliation with Farmers National out of Omaha Nebraska. While Bob enjoys all aspects of the consulting practice; his principle interest is in the area of agricultural business valuation and more specifically the application of valuation principles as part of an overall economic assessment. Over the past 3.5 years Bob has been acting as the project manager for an initiative focused on the development and implementation sustainable metrics for crop production systems in western Canada as part of the Field to Market Canada group. This initiative has recently widened its focus into Ontario and now includes corn and soybeans in the assessment system. While the focus is to identify, qualify and quantify indications of sustainability, there is obviously a direct connection to the financial viability of these practices. Bob is also extensively involved in the non-profit community. He is the President of Matheson Seniors Housing Corporation as well as Brentwood Family Housing Society. He also sits on the Board of the Meadowcroft Family Housing Corporation, the Edmonton Triathlon Academy, and the 2014 Triathlon Edmonton Ltd. He is the Chair of Operations for the 2014 ITU Grand Final and Age Group World Championships.
