Lead Essbase DeveloperUs Foodservice Dec 2009 - May 2010Rosemont, Il, UsI was hired on to be the Lead Essbase Developer in the Design and creation of an Essbase Cube with write back capability providing their Finance Department a streamlined budget and forecasting process. Their current budget process employed Microsoft Excel workbooks manually populated with information from PeopleSoft and other sources. After completing the planning process, each division uploads the results to PeopleSoft using a custom Excel VBA application for consolidation and reporting using an on-demand batch process. We designed and implemented a completely automated process using Maxl and SQL scripts to load the actuals into a newly designed Essbase cube. By updating the existing workbooks to use the data from the cube we allowed the existing functionality of the current workbooks in a real time fashion along with a direct access to write the information back to the cube for immediate reporting and updates to PeopleSoft thus streamlining their process for all 80 divisions from months to days. -

Hyperion Essbase ConsultantState Of Az, Sep 2006 - Feb 2007I worked on the design and implementation for multiple Essbase applications for HR and Payroll using Lawson software for the State of Arizona in the AIX environment. My initial focus on this project was the complete automation of the Hyperion Essbase cube building process for the Human resource department. I was able to completely automate all process and reduce build time to run all 26 cubes to less than 24 hours from a 3-day build process using Essbase v6.5.1, SQL and IBM DB2 Warehouse Manager.

Hyperion Essbase Consultant / Showcase (Spss)Rentway Corporation Aug 2005 - Nov 2005I was engaged to modify their existing Hyperion Essbase application for an inventory cube, which was designed by another consulting firm. This cube was taking over 24 hours to load and calc and they were told by the other consulting firm that was because of the large volume of data they were processing. After careful analysis of the relational database, rules files, definitions, Outline, and SQL queries I was able to suggest and implement a gentle redesign of the entire process to bring that time down to less than 3 hours. I Re-Designed and implemented an Inventory Cube with their in-house design team on their AS400 server retrieving the data through SQL from their custom SQL database using Showcase Warehouse Builder, Showcase SQL Query, and Hyperion Essbase.

This project solved a great need for the organization allowing them to determine which divisions and locations to consolidate after a large 3-year acquisition process which left the Company in quite a mess. This project helped them determine where they were now competing with themselves and what locations were just not performing well and where they were losing money. This project facilitated a major redesign of their distribution system resulting in substantial savings for the company.
